The e-Alert Services is currently sent through Internet e-mail and Short Messaging Service (SMS). The SMS channel is available to all mobile services registered in Hong Kong. Some of our e-Alerts are available via e-mail and SMS, therefore we recommend you to provide both your e-mail address and mobile phone number (if available and valid for the e-Alert Services) so that you are able to select from our full range of e-Alert Services.
Different type of e-Alert is sent at different times during the day. Please see the Types of e-Alert Offered for more information.
You can go to e-Alert page to change your preferred language to either English or Traditional Chinese for SMS and email.
You can check the language status of your e-Alert on the "Account Maintenance" page, and change your preferred language to either English or Traditional Chinese for SMS and e-mail.
All e-mail e-Alerts are in standard HTML format, which is supported by most Internet Service Providers. If you cannot view your e-mail properly, please configure/upgrade your e-mail program so that it can support HTML formatted e-mails.
You will stop receiving e-Alert if any of the following situations occurs:
1.
Invalid e-mail address:
If an email address is considered invalid, we will immediately suspend the e-Alert Services to that email address.
An email address is considered invalid if there are three "returned" emails within one month. An email is classified as "Returned" if we have resent the same email e-Alert for three times within 24 hours but for any reason was still returned. Please note that you are responsible for keeping your email address current and your mailbox in a valid state in order to successfully receive e-Alerts.

Invalid mobile phone number:
If a mobile phone number is considered invalid, we will immediately suspend the e-Alert Services to that mobile phone number. A mobile phone number is considered invalid if there are three returned SMS messages within one month. Please note that you are responsible for keeping your mobile phone number current in order to successfully receive e-Alerts. |
3.
Service suspension:
If you have suspended your SMS e-Alert service through e-Banking, you will not receive SMS e-Alerts during that period on the specified channel.
4.
Service termination:
If you have deleted the e-Alert through e-Banking, you will not receive the e-Alerts.
Please note bill payment e-alert and new IPO update e-alert will remain in effect once set up and will not be automatically deleted after your account has been terminated. Please go to e-Alert page and cancel the relevant instructions.
